Alpha Sigma Alpha has two national philanthropies: Special Olympics and S. June Smith Center. Special Olympics is an international program designed to help people with disabilities to "develop self-confidence, social skills and a sense of personal accomplishment."
Alpha Sigma hosts a spring philanthropy event called Homerun Derby. This spring, teams from the Missouri State community participated in our second annual Homerun Derby, and all the money raised went to the Special Olympics.

S. June Smith Center is located in Lancaster, PA and assists with the intellectual development of children in a family-centered environment. We are developing a philanthropy event for the fall that will raise money for the S. June Smith Center.
Giving back to the community is very important to Alpha Sigmas. Alpha Sigma Alpha participates in Dance Bear-A-Thon every fall, which is an event hosted by Missouri State University that raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network. A∑A also has members involved in Big Brother Big Sistor mentoring, Service Learning, AIDS Walk, Blood Drives, Habitat for Humanity, and Up Til Dawn Letter Writing which raises money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Alpha Sigma Alpha volunteers at Kids Against Hunger in Springfield on a regular basis, and also cleans a section of National road with the Adopt-a-Street program.
